    Hi

Yes, rte1, rte2 and tg4 are all on the basic package. Never understood why TV3 isn't though.
  • Unfortunately some of the Sports Events will not be available in Northern Ireland.
  • My understanding of the reading for the digital switchover is that RTE1 & 2 and TnaG will be available on freeview for free!

If your TV has the capability to receive the RTE stations built in then you should receive them ok. However they are transmitted in a different format and if your TV hasnt that capability you will need to get a Saorview box which I think it retails at about £60 to £80 and this should help you receive same.I live in Derry and have been receiving these stations for more than 6 months via digital TV including RTE 1+2 TnaG TV3 3E RTE+1 RTE News RTE Junior and a number of RTE radio stations. Please check with your local Television shop for more expert advice.Hope this helps you.

When viewing via a Saorview box, are the live football matches still available, or are they blacked out (as with Sky)?

Direct viewing via Saorview signals does not black out sports events etc as these are ROI signals, only the UK signals (via Sky) are subject to the territorial black-outs.
