Gym on doctor's orders

It's not an entirely ridiculous notion, my friend who's a GP ended up giving a patient a subscription to a gym, not sure how he got the NHS to pay for it. Anyway she returned a few months later still fat, said she hadn't been because she had a fear of electricity and couldn't be near the machines.
Although apparently she also went up in weight because he gave her a diet plan which she ate ON TOP of her regular diet. She said she thought the foods he was suggesting (ie lots of vegetables!) would magically make her thinner on their own, and would cancel out the other food.
The mind boggles.
Interesting post history too ElvisiaDave0 -

Sorry - strayed into this by mistake! Drawn in by the thread title rather than the board name.0 -
You aren't often given a free membership to a gym or leisure centre, however you maybe offered free training with a recommend physiotherapist at a gym! (all depends on the situation) 2014: £20 voucher from SurveyFriends, £10 cash payout from Panel Opinion too and working towards more from Valued Opinions currently.
2013: £35 and £50 vouchers from SurveyFriends! More than £15 made from other paid surveys sites (Yougov, Panel Opinion, Valued Opinions, Pinecone, etc.) Happy so far!0 -
Don`t want to sound harsh but why would you expect taxpayers to fund your gym membership? As previously stated walking is free!!0

I have been offered a 3 month membership to a local leisure centre which included unlimited access to the gym and also the pool. I live in the Co Antrim area if that helps, and it is because of me being overweight.;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0
