Landlords, agencies etc, credit check question

Hello everyone.
I was made BR 3.5 years ago. Since losing my home I've been comfortably renting privately but my LL is now selling up. I've been looking for accomodation close by and have found a perfect place, within budget. However, it's with an agency. Now I know they will credit check me and it will be a straight no. When I explained this to my parents my dad has very generously offered to pay 6 months rent in advance for me. I'm worried though, that they'll still credit check. Will they still carry it out if I'm paying up front? Anyone had experience of this? Thanks.

  • Were in the same boat at the minute. Renting privately but wanting to move area and that means we will need to go with a letting agent.

We too have explained our situation (I'm not discharged till Aug this year and hubby still hasn't gone BR yet) to letting agents and they have all said the same, they still credit check you but only to verify you are who you say you are. If they know up front you will fail it won't be too much of a shock and it may even be cheaper fee's.

Just be carefull though as most agents we have spoken to have said the landlords will require us to pay 6 months up front every time, and some have said after 6 months we may be ok to pay monthly.

    Good luck, Pink x
