Free Tea/Coffee On Train

Go easy on me first post!!!
I was on the Midland Mainline train and noticed that there was no price for tea and coffee at the 'mm's bar' (food coach). Turns out they're complimentary!!!
Not sure if there free all day everyday, but I've got a free one every time since. Hope this helps someone.
Sorry if this has been posted befor.

Yes, as far as I'm aware it's free from the MM's bar at all times. It's not the finest coffee in my opinion (i'm a bit of a stickler for coffee!), but it's very welcome, even on small journeys.

I'm not sure if you were referring to Virgin trains in the above in reply to the previous comment. If you were, as my partner and I found out to our disgust ,Virgin do not do the free newspaper, drinks n food at your seat on Sundays. Instead if you take your first class ticket and really grovel you can get a free tea OR water and a tiny cookie. How is this the equivalent? The guy serving told my bloke that "yes it is a rip off" and didn't know why they did it, it was just policy.

AND before Edna/poppy/someone with nothing better to do says this does not belong here. Yes it does. It answers a comment and is about your reading material, drinks n snacks not costing anything when travelling first class ie being a freebie, except on Virgin otrainds on a Sunday.
  • yes, it's always free on Midland Mainline, and as of this february, it's all fair trade as well - so it's both free AND ethical - bonus!
