Best of LIDL?

Next Thursday a LIDL is opening near me. Coincidentally that is also the day we move house and we've been planning on stocking our pantry then (we will be bringing hardly any food with us!)

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend anything particular we should look out for (or avoid) in LIDL.

We don't eat any animal products though :o

  • I like their cleaning stuff and toiletries. In particular the Floralays 3-ply kitchen towels, i think they are around £1.69 for 4 rolls, the plug-in air freshners at £1.99 each and all the Cien toiletries!
The shampoos and conditioners are 75p each, and i swear they beat the socks off all brand name stuff!!

Oh, their oven chips are lovely too!!

    Crisps, especially when half-price
    Herbs and spices

    Olive oil spread is nice

Few to ponder over, check out the half-price weekend offers, some great deals.

    Thanks, all.

Russ, thanks for the link. Looks like we'll have to try some of their alcoholic beverages!

Wow, Edwardia, what a list! I've heard about the washing powder before. I might just have to stock up on it!
  • LIDL's Aromata clingfilm used to be terrible but they have re-vamped it & now it's fab & just 99p for 75m.
  • I buy:

Bread flour-the best one I have found
Cheese-cheaper than the "value" range at Tesco
    Wine
    Eggs
Fruit & Veg-fresher and mostly British
W5 dishwasher tablets & rinse aid
    Formil laundry liquid
    Bleach
    Doussy fabric softener
Baked beans - cheaper than "value" and so much nicer
    Jaffa cakes
and the White chocolate with strawberries

I really like Lidl, I don't feel like they are trying to rip me off and it's nice and quiet in there!
Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends

Greek style yogurt in a 1 kilo bucket with a handle......smooth, creamy, gorgeous and £1.58!! 10% fat and luscious!!

They also do it with bits in (choccie I think) but havent tried that.

The plain stuff on their luxury fruit granola £1.99 (loads of cranberries) is delish :D

The muesli is worth a try Goody luxury fruit and nut, used to get it for 99p when on offer, but gone up quite a bit and now around £1.49 when on offer, though have seen it for £1.29.
Makes lovely muesli cakes (like crispie cakes), using Lidl chocolate when half-price at only 17p per 100g bar for milk.
300ml pots of double cream are decently priced at 85p'ish, saves looking for offers at other places!!

Thanks all. It's so sad but I'm very excited for it to open!
