Is this a Bad Move to demolish this old landmark building or should old buildings be demolished to make way for new modern buildings..
Personally I think its a bad thing..... especially when it's for More appartments... like we need any more apartments.......

I agree. Can't see anything getting built on this site for a looooong time. Probably a NAMA developer trying to add value to the site.
Don we need anymore vacant flat. I'm sure we have thousands as it is.0 -
I do not see all negative here. After an almost total lack of confidence in commercial property construction in the last few years, it could help to bring back a certain amount of confidence and have a knock-on effect.0

Yeah but it's not like there's a great shortage of either commercial or residential space/units in Belfast...... look how many empty shops there are around the place0 -
I dont know about the economic rights and wrongs of it, but I loved that old building.Norn Iron Club member 4730

As stated above, there is hardly a shortage of space in Belfast so why bother? Sorry but I dont see how anyone is helped by just adding more property onto the heap whilst no one is buying what is already there.Always overestimating...0

The article says it can't be saved due to its leaning. If true, that means....it can't be saved, because its leaning!
Not that it is being ripped down purely on economic grounds...0 -
it has come to the end off its life .
Lets hope its replacement is not an eye sore ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
I think they should have at least kept the facade. Other much more 'flashy' cities do this regularly, even with buildings that are derelict and falling down inside. We've lost enough character buildings over the years. What's the point in Conservation Areas if they aren't conserved?0
