Eltroxin users - is there still a difficulty with the supply of these?

My pharmacist has just told me that Mercury are discontinuing all manufacture of Eltroxin (tabs/liquid).. Probably about Mercury being able to alter charges on their own generic whereas they couldnt on the brand name of Eltroxin.
however, their 'generic' levothyroxine and levothyroxine sodium (same thing!!) have the same fillers and excipients as Eltroxin so should be exactly the same formation and bear no ill effects.
I'll let you know! :cool:0 -
The active ingredient will be the same, but the fillers may well be different and that is often why people do better on one brand than another."Keep your dreams as clean as silver..." John Stewart (1939-2008)0

Hi.
No, the fillers /excipients are same as Eltroxin. I checked all the formulas from Mercury Pharma.
However, other generics from other manufacturers might well have different fillers which could alter the absorbency/efficiency of the active ingredient.0
