Advice CSA - Housing costs - Mortgage - What will they account for?

Hi

Looking for any answers. My husbands CSA is going through a re-assesment and they have asked us to provide details of our housing costs, mortgage etc.. Does anyone know what they will take into account and more importantly if they will take into account an additional loan secured against the property?

If you are on CSA1 they will take your housing costs into account, the first thing they work out is your protected income which is your housing costs plus the amount that a couple would get if they are on income surport, this is called your protected income and is what they have to leave you by law, This does not include your council tax, that comes next!!
next they take into account your council tax know as additional housing costs, What ever is left over in your household (ie both wages) they then start to deduct money until they get to what is know as maintenance needed, if they reach that figure and decide that you can afford to pay more than the maintenance needed they will take up to another 15% off you.
But hopefully your other half is on CSA2 then his maintenance is worked out on percentages, which means that he will pay alot less. Hopefully the CSA will finally get there act together this year and either move everyone onto the new gross income scheme or encourage parents to make a private agreement, i can see none of this ever happening!!

Depends what the additional loan was for. If it is was for essential improvements or can be justified they may allow it. Other things allowed are life insurance and mortgage payment protection insurance.
