how much will i get offered for a mortgage

Does anyone know if it will effect my credit history if i go to a bank to find out how much i would get offered for a mortgage?

If all you want to know is your borrowing power, use a lender's online affordability calculator for an estimate.
If you want an agreement in principle for an actual mortgage amount, you will be credit searched and a record of the search added to your credit file.I am a mortgage broker.
