Yes that is one way.

I've have the same misgivings - it is disheartening when people swipe without giving thanks (and if they aren't signed up how will they pay us back codes when they win?)

I decided against sending all as PM because -

a) I'm pretty sure it's against the MSE policy to ask for/offer codes over PM without posting them.

b) If we did we could alienate new active sharing members (if aforementioned new members are our referrals then we'll cut off our nose to spite the face!) - ending up with a group of wonder regs - POPPYOSCAR, Cally, BristolBloke Apple Crumble and many other great members handing codes around to each other

How about we move to a discrete location (ie. on an old expired thread with tons of posts on "gone but not forgotten" or similar) That way we can exchange codes without fear of lurkers grabbing them, not break any rules about PMing codes - we can then invite newer members into our "consortium" once they've shown willing to share with community?

If someone want to set something like that up, please PM me the details and I'm there! That is if we still have such codes after update.........:shocked:

I am not always online and many times have actually missed FOY codes that have been posted. Therefore the chance of me actually being the first person to PM someone else who has a code free is very Slim.

You forget that once a person posts on a thread, that thread is then bumped back up to the top and becomes active again.

How to kill a thread ? Have a secret clicky group somewhere that only select members are allowed to join .. oops, isn't that exactly what you don't want to happen (see your B. point above)
Example - Swagbucks thread, the regular members have all moved off somewhere else and the thread is dying very slowly.

I've seen a few chat groups here do similar - it's out of the way and nobody's really looking for new posts. This thread can stay as it is here giving plenty of chances to invite helpful newbies over to the place where we post our codes.

When I've used a GH code from here I have always pressed the thanks button. If it said the code is for 3 people and the post has 3 'thank yous' then I presume that the code has been used up.
