I'd also say it goes in peaks and troughs... Superpoints was always my favourite but at the moment I'm doing really well on Gifthulk as Sponsorpay has loads of recurring videos throughout the day... Next week I may be back to earning more on Superpoints.

With regards to effort I dont get the chance to do as many surveys as some people so simple I dont earn as quickly!
