These are the scoops and liquid dosing balls I think. I don't think that anyone does the powder dosing balls that they used to do.

Please don't, Zip! This has become powder vs. liquid, but my question is really how best to use powder - in the drawer or in the drum?

Straight in the drum. If it's leaving streaks all over your clothes you're probably using too much at too low a temperature. For once-worn clothes not noticeably stained you can easily cut the manufacturer's recommended dosage by at least half with no discernible difference.

The person who always pre-washes every laundry-load is either washing really filthily putrid clothing or they're wasting their money on both detergent and electricity. I know which option I'd be putting my money on
