new baby does our tax code change

hi folks we are due to have our 1st child (due next week) does both our tax codes change???? and if it does do we have to contact tax office or does it happen automatically?

No your tax code won't change. However you will be eligible for Working Families Tax Credit or the Child Tax Credit depending on your income. You'll need to ring the tax office for that. Don't forget to apply for Child Benefit to once baby's here.

Agree with TAG except that you certainly won't be entitled to Working Families Tax Credit as that hasn't existed for years.

You may already be claiming WTC, but should recheck once baby arrives...0 -
try the website called https://www.entitledto.co.uk which has been recommend by this site earlier in the year (it's used by the CAB) its a calculator for tax credits and other benefits.
use it as a guide as it may not be 100% accurate, but It's spot on with our credits and entitlements.0
