Voucher codes can leave you worse off

" At least 68 out of 100 voucher codes tested would not have saved you money.

A shocking 38 out of 100 “vouchers” were not vouchers at all. The price shoppers paid was identical whether you used the voucher or went directly to the retailers without them. "

Seems like a lot of twaddle and not much substance to me.

All that waffle and the only example of a rip off he can come up with is a magazine offering a £15 voucher for a retailer it has written about.

Why not list an example of the 38 offers where you paid the same with the voucher as you would without it?

I don't really understand why that example was used. If a retailer offers a magazine a coupon or a freebie to give to their readers it's obvious that they are going to want some publicity in return. I love the sentence, "Because of the way they are structured and presented, almost all of these promotions encourage you to buy more and spend more and to do so more frequently." Well, obviously.

I would always shop around voucher or not.

Rubbish if you ask me! The only offering is this one:
Because of the way they are structured and presented, almost all of these promotions encourage you to buy more and spend more and to do so more frequently. Many of them are extremely manipulative, to the point that you can't help but admire the ingenuity. Just one example is from women's clothes store Whistles, which offered a £15 gift voucher if you buy Elle Magazine – at a time when Elle has written up its top Whistle buys. Pretty clever.
So if you bought that magazine and used the voucher for something you wanted to buy, have you saved £15 or not? You have (less the price of the magazine of course).

    Happy moneysaving all.

I totally agree. It's a smart marketing ploy. Not rubbish at all.
