Moving into first home & need money!!

Options
Hi all, I know there are a lot of similar threads here asking about making money but I am moving into my first house very soon and have so much to pay out for (washing machine, furniture etc) and I am trying to earn as much as I possibly can.
I have recently become unemployed and am currently selling things online and considering some direct selling (possibly with scentsy) so I am on the computer most days but I already do surveys, superpoints, swagbucks and sell on ebay! Can anyone think of anything else I can do online or in the real world (!!) that will earn me some money in the short term until I get a full time job?
I have sold my old phones, ipod and CD's and have applied for a position at Lionbridge but haven't heard anything yet so I just wondered if I'm missing something else I can do?
Thanks so much for any help!

Hi, I am a Scentsy Consultant, I am more than happy to answer any questions you have about joining Scentsy.

I used to have a business on Ebay which is a fantastic way of making money, but it can become very competitive with people undercutting eachother with pricing.

Another alternative is possibly care work as there always seem to be adverts for Care Assistants.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
    xx

use freecycle urgently- you will get some free furniture on there. Then hoard/ask around for bits o paint etc (extended family would be good for lurking in sheds/attics/cellars/workrooms) and start looking at upcycling sites while you on the net, and get thinking creatively- any pieces in your first home that are made this way- and slaved over so they are beautiful, will be the ones you keep for ever.

Also keeps you busy so you dont spend money, keeps you grounded and occupied to stay sane and even happy during unemployment and make it a mission to keep it fun. If you spend £2.50 on materials so be it, but it will be the best £2.50 ever spent. As someone else says on here - every penny is a prisoner.

Wilkos left their seedlings out in the frost this week, so I happily picked up 20 bedding plants for 50p, using old containers/bread bins/buckets etc, soil I was given for free, and hey presto a 50p garden! I think you have to approach it as a fun challenge. join our challenge for lots of ideas £2012 in 2012 or lurk far and wide on these forums. some ideas are pure genius.

ps wilkos- taken inside and watered and all your plants came good, you probably didn't need a sale
  • Thanks for the advice! I love wilko's so will keep an eye out for bargains like that! I have already got lots of furniture from my mum which I will be painting and some bits from my grandma too!
I have also been selling like crazy on ebay the last few days so hopefully that will bring some money in.
I had been saving all my pennies, 10p's 20p's etc and I added those up yesterday and was surprised to find out it added up to over £100 so that was nice!
I will take a look at some old threads on the forum and take a look at some of the challenges for some more tips!
    Thanks a lot!
