What 42" Plasma HD TV would everyone recommend? Help!

Decided to take the plunge and go for an HD Plasma 42" TV. So many out there and with various prices I would welcome any help from people that have one. Friend has a Samsung and he keeps suggesting it with the Xbox 360 gaming mode a bonus.

Any help and suggestions with current prices would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There are only three Plasma TV brands I'd recommend...

    Panasonic
    Pioneer
    Fujitsu.

(Top tip....everyone thinks their Plasma is the nuts, so take what's said with a pinch of salt!)

Don't know anyone with a Pioneer tv but after a quick search on the net their name keeps cropping up over and over again

    Thanks for the links.

To add to this was in a shop today and the guy was saying LCD tv could be a better choice. Plasma? LCD? Make?

"They" say that Plasma is best over 32". I've got a Panasonic 42" plasma and am delighted with it.

There are no plasma TV's under 37'. Plasmas have more natural looking black colours due to much better contrast and don't suffer 'ghosting' like some LCD's do when displaying fast moving images like action movies or football. LCD is catching up fast though so there is not much in it.

I have the 37 inch Panasonic Viera TH-37PX60 and my son has the 42 inch Panasonic Viera TH-42PX60, and can say that they are fantastic sets.

  • I`m not sure if all the techie mumbo jumbo really does make sense to anyone regardless of what they say .
I simply popped into Argos and bought a Wharfdale 42" plasma a coupla months ago for aroung about £699 and can find no fault with it .
Nice clear picture and looks the mutz nut3 - mind you I`m only doing the basics with mine . - yes - watching telly !
As hank says I`d take everyones advice with a pinch of salt and simply jump in for what you feel is best
