Obtaining Mortgage when doing Contract Work.....

My husband has decided to leave the Army after 13 years service to pursue as career in Close Protection (probably in Iraq or Maritime).

We are looking to buy a house, however we need around £40K deposit which we do not think we will have by the time his notice period ends with the Army.

The CP salary is a good one (and tax free as he's out of the country most of the time), so we would save a deposit in no time, but We were wondering if mortgages / mortgage insurance is easily obtainable on 12 month contract work (which will be renewed on a year by year basis)??

Thanks in advance for any advice....

Nadine xx
