Cheap deal/alternative to ironing water?

I live in a really hard water area and my iron was totally full of scale when I used tap water. I tried filtered water and boiled water and saw no real improvement. The only thing that seems to work is the Ironing Water you buy in the supermarkets, Comfort Vaporesse or similar but I get though a lot of it and its not working out to be cheap even when I get the supermarket own brand. When I run out and use tap water again the scale returns!
I just wondered if anyone had seen it in bigger bottles (tried Costco but never seen it there) or if there was a cheaper alternative I didn't know about.
Thanks

Make your own. Distilled or de-ionised water (I got mine in the car accessory section in Wilkinsons) and a few drops of essential oil.
I don't recommend lavender, though. It smells nice, but it made me feel sleepy, so I never finished the ironing. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
alternative to ironing water
Just leave the creases in it
Getting serious, I live in a hard water area and I just don't put water in my iron. Instead I use a cheap spray bottle to spray the clothes before ironing.0 -

You can add a few drops of essential oil to this, too. It works as a room freshener as well. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
You could try these water softening crystals http://www.amazon.co.uk/REUSEABLE-CHYSTALS-SOFTENER-TROUSER-LITRES/dp/B001ECJRV6/ref=pd_bxgy_kh_img_c
Each bottle is supposed to work for about 10 litres.
Costco has boxes of 6 bottles for £120 -
We have an electronic water softener on our mains which works.0

If you have a dehumidifier use the water from that as has been distilled from water taken from the air - we live in a hard water area too and never have a problem if we use this0
