    Hi there,

I wish you would have posted before going to Brittania and someone could have told you the likely outcome.

You were right to declare (they would have found out anyway) although any adverse and they are not interested I am afraid. It is very much as you assumed; computer says no means banks say no..

That said, you sound as if you are in a good position; you have 2 choices:
    • You can see a broker, who should be able to find you a less sensitive bank on this basis, or approach the less sensitive banks yourself as a joint application
    • Apply in sole name with a bank (direct or via broker) that will not assess you as a couple. You put single application and confirm that your partner is over 18 and living at the property. You can have a separate deed of trust around who pays what and gets what.
On option 2 be careful of specific lenders such as Natwest, as they will still score you as a joint application with any mention of your partner..

    Good luck...

maybe the new lender views the fact you have had three mortgages in a relatively short period of time a bit suspect.

    Fact?
Ok here we go, I have had three mortgages with Britania Building Society since i was 18 and am now 35. All three have been redeemed having bought and sold three times.

    17 years a short time?

Dave Ham and suburbanwifey have it covered.

You need to get it in your head that you haven't been declined, your partner has. You are jointly liable.
