can anyone give me some advice after being tied to a mortgage for 5 years we were given the wrong tie in date for our fixed rate we were told it finished in may but in actual fact it finished in Feb are we entitled to compensation and money back for paying the higher intrest rate

The exact date would be in your offer letter. I doubt you had a leg to stand on regarding your claim. Also the lender would have written to you to offer you a new deal?0

Thank you Bulldog the bank actually sent us the wrong dates when asked for a redemption statement any further advice would be appreciated0

If it finished in February, you've only been paying the higher rate for a couple of weeks. And you will have been notified that your fixed rate was ending at least two weeks before the payments changed, as the DD rules require this.
You could have remortgaged by now, if you wanted to.
I don't think that their error in the redemption statement is relevant - as Bulldog says, what matters is the fixed rate end date in your original offer. Obviously if that said MAY and the rate has ended in FEBRUARY then they've made a mistake and should change your rate back.0
