Does calling everyday effect your application??

This is probably a ridiculous question but as a FTB I'm learning new stuff everyday.

Our 90% mortgage application is with HSBC so we don't have a mortgage broker and we don't have an advisor. Our full application along with documents went in almost two weeks ago and we are still waiting on a decision. Is it bad to call them every day asking where it is up to? Each time im told its still in a queue with the underwriters and has been since the 12th April and to call back the next day but I'm worried that being a pest will have a negative effect.

I thought it was only a matter of time before the EA got twitchy and now they have so im really wanting to call today asking what's going on.

Thanks

  • Keep badgering them.... Expect it to take about 4 weeks from the date of application for a full mortgage offer to be made.

I would say applying with HSBC affects your application..

I think you need to chase them as if you search HSBC mortgage in the top of this forum it will give you a good idea of what you are up against...

With respect, you have just had your own mortgage approved with a broker you shared with the world on a previous thread and now I keep seeing comments that have no foundation at all.

So; 4 weeks is made up yes?

and then to start stating on another thread that Natwest are the only lender lending at 5 times salary - wrong again.

The more people that post advice the better, but pretty please can you not state facts (that are actually inaccurate)

    All the best

Its not approved until you have the offer letter in your hand I'm afraid.

Keep on at them every day until you have this.

Then when you have it, keep your head down until you have picked up the keys to your house!

Ok thanks for that, hopefully that should arrive in a day or so. How do you mean keep your head down?
  • Because it can still be declined. Until funds are released a lender can pull an offer. Not sure about the nasty HSBC but some lenders credit score again pre offer or pre completion to check you've not missed payments or increased your debt.

I have know, albeit on 2 occasions, a lender ask for funds back after completion, hence keeping your head down.
