I am worrying over nothing????

We presently have a morgage and with all the interest rises we have asked our morgage provder to switch to a fixed rate morgage for two years.I thought it would be that we just ask and they swap it over but no we have had to go through a morgage application again they also said a solister would have to get involved which they would pay for to deal with the deeds.Has anybody else had to go through this when just swaping morgage deals with there lender i am quite worried .They also asked for our wage slips again nothing has changed in husbands earnings but i no longer work ,i receive incapacity benefit but the lady i spoke to said she thinks they do count incapacity as earnings if they did not count my incapacity our earnings together would be sigificantly less than what they have got us down for.Today i received a letter saying morgage offer does this sound as if they are going to let us change deals?i rang and asked if everything is ok and they said i will be getting a questionaire from solister which i need to fill in and if everything is ok with that they will change it over so now i am worrying again what will this questionare be ?I cannot remember how morgage applications go now as it was quite along time when we last did one.In peoples experiences have i got anything to be worried about or is this questionare just a standard thing

I am no expert, but sounds odd to me. I have changed my mortgage deal before from SVR to a fix and had nothing to do other than discuss it on the phone and sign a form to confirm the change.

My current fix has just expired and teh same again - just a few calls and sign the product transfer form.

As its only a rate switch I am surprised why a solicitor is involved.

Switched my mortgage twice with my current lender, only ever needed to sign a form and send it back, never any solicitors involved.

It sounds like there remortgaging you to move accounts to the one you want.

Banks like the Woolwich do this all the time via an internal remortgage using solicitors.

Thanks all for your replys the lender is intelligent finance i am quite worried now as to why they are taking me down this route.I to thought that they simply just switch you over.We did have two amounts owing with intelligent finance we had our morgage then we had a further advance they were both for the same amount of years. If they do switch us to a fixed rate the morgage and further advance are being combined together i wonder if this is why they are doing it this way. Please could somebody confirm if anyone knows if this is stanard pratice with some lenders.
