Transferring equity without a solicitor????

Hi there, Ive a simple case of needing my mortgage to be just in my name.
The Ex (wasnt married) has moved on and wants his own mortgage, I can afford to pay the current one on my own, my lender has agreed this.
Do I need to get a solicitor involved?
Its below the £125000 threshold for stamp duty tax so although I do have to notify the HMRC I dont need to pay anything.
I have the relevant forms from the Land Registry to fill in, is this it or is this something that MUST be completed by a legal official?
Am I going about this the right way? Have I missed anything? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Once the lender has approved the change, it will want the transaction completed by a solicitor.I am a mortgage broker.
