Prosper.com - does it work?

Has anybody ever used prosper.com? Its a pretty cool site that allows lenders and borrowers to link up online (skipping the middle man/bank). The neat thing I've notices is that you could bid on a loan and loan as much money as you want. So you could just contribute 50 dollars to somebodies 10,000 dollar loan! Credit ratings are included. I really want to try to be a lender on this site so I wonder if anybody has used it.
