My parents bought me 3 pans when I went to Uni 27 years ago.

I still have them and they are still going strong - love them...

  • Sainsbury's currently have a "copy" of the Volcanic Orange Le Creuset casserole at the moment - about £25 if I remember correctly. In our local, it's by the door with the heavily discounted Christmas stuff, TV's, printers etc.,

For me personally, no they're not worth the money, I have trouble lifting them when empty never mind once they've got food in them.

  • i think they fab...., my parents bought me a set 12 yrs ago and they look like new...,v easy to clean and used daily. i bought a cheap set of pans at uni and they were rubbish so i think buying a better brand a money saver especially if someonelse buying! they come in some lively colours nowadays. they are a bit heavy when full! these pots are classic items and also look great,,,use mine on gas.

I feel exactly the same way.

I love my stainless steel Le Creuset saucepan though. Even if it's not quite as pretty to serve food in.

  • The Daily Mail did an article in 2010 comparing some different brands of cast iron casseroles and griddle pans:

I have three different sizes of Le Creuset cast iron pots and love them all. They are so easy to clean and cook food beautifully on the hob or in the oven.

For everyday cooking in saucepans we have a set of Le Creuset tri ply stainless steel which are wonderful and much lighter to use. Very high quality although they aren't quite as good for the long slow simmering that a pickle or soup or stew would need.

I have a tesco copy version of LCD. I bought it half price a few years back. I think it was a tender. Heavy, but great to use. Can go straight from the hob to the oven. Love the cast iron feel, but don't think that I would pay out for the LC when there seems to more reasonable alternatives available.

Got one of these a couple of years or so ago. Always wanted a LC but not prepared to pay the price so got one of these in the sale and have used it lots. It is quite heavy when full but I love it.

Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong forum.
I have been wanting a Le Creuset casserole dish. I realise that they are a lot of money and I don't mind paying for quality items. However would like to know whether they are worth it or are they no better than bog standard casserole dish. So have you got one? Do you regret buying it?
