Sorry, another turned-down-by-my-bank-for-loan thread.

Hi folks,
Apologies for this. Does the fact that I have been turned down by my bank mean there is less likelihood of, say, Masterloan, lending me the money? And is there a black mark on my credit rating? How long will it last?
Sorry to ramble, just a bit shocked. I was really counting on my bank to come through after 20 years as a customer.

Odd that you have been turned down after 20 years as a customer unless there is something wrong with their scoring system or your credit file.
Suggest you obtain the latter from Experian or Equifax for £2 and maybe call your bank and ask them to review the application manually as you think they may have made a mistake.
Check the following too....
Have you recently changed jobs?
Are you on the electoral register?
Do you have any CCJs or defaults in the last 6 years?
Do you have lots of available credit on unused credit cards?
Do you think some of your neighbours are a bid dodgy!
Do you have any credit already, even a mobile phone bill? Sometimes banks can't score you because you don't have any experience managing credit on your file to score you against!
