Advice please....can I refuse delivery and expect a refund?

Writing in a bad mood so feel free to ignore.
Daughter (aged 13) ordered something in error last week (a part for a different camera to the make/model she owns). I went through Amazon to cancel the order (3 days ago) and I've just received a shipping notice from them (3rd party seller). AAArgh why the heck do they do that? I know that some orders are in the process of being sent but in reality surely they can stop posting an order having received a blinking cancellation request?
I know that it states that a request of cancellation is not a guarantee but it was 3 days ago.
The item is cheaper than the postage and I reckon they just want me to forget it accept it.
CAn I/am I better off refusing the delivery and hoping for seller to refund the whole price inc P&P (not sure if they'd be obliged to do so)? Or would I be better off accepting it and reposting it myself? I thought that thee distance selling act stated that shipping to the customer had to be refunded (but unsure as seller stated on Amazon that this is not the case.)
What to do??

Hold the boat...All is well. The seller just emailed to say that he had cancelled the order, but Amazon had sent the shipping email...Phew!!!
