Rugs

I want to buy 2 rugs - one for the bedroom (something nice and fluffy to put your feet on when you first get out of bed :D) and one for the living room (something nice, that will last not a cheap trendy thing that will need replacing in 6 months)
I definitely don't want that acrylic deep pile shaggy stuff that seems to be very trendy, I just don't like the feel of it! I've had a quick look on my regular travels but have turned up nothing so far (tesco, Argos, the range, Wilkos etc). Ikea stuff is not what I'm after either.
Do I need to look in carpet shops or is there anywhere else anyone can suggest for decent rugs that are not mega-expensive (not paying £100's for a rug!) yet are nice?

Where did you buy your rugs from?

I am looking for a mocha type colour for the bedroom, and probably a beige or creamy base for the living room, ideally plain but a pattern could work.

    I've been Money Tipped!
With rugs you do tend to get what you pay for. If you want a slightly better quality, you will have to pay a bit more. I'd suggest Next or Dunelm Mill as places that sell a good range of styles at a range of prices. Personally I've always found something lovely and good value in Argos.

Thanks for the reply - I am happy to pay for a decent rug, but not mega-££££ for something that's naff if you know what I mean ...
I haven't tried Next, thanks for that suggestion.
I only saw 4 or 5 rugs in Dunelm last time I was there & none were suitable, but I will try again - it's a bit of a trek to my nearest store so it will be a couple of weeks till I can get there!
I tried Argos but there is nothing at all that is suitable - I did look at http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9271050/Trail/searchtext%3EWOOL+RUGS.htm but in real life it was dreadful!

I would second Dunelm - my local one had a whole rug section, we got ours about 4yrs ago it is 120x170 and was £30 (the label is still on the back)
  • I bought a gorgeous fluffy rug from here

I bought it from their shop but it's probably easier buying online if you're not local.

Do they sell rugs in Dreams? Never been in one of those stores but maybe I need to!
There are no rugs on IWantOneofThose, and after looking at "Not on the Highstreet" I think your ideas and mine of "affordable" are a bit different - I like some of the rugs on there, in fact some are amazing, but £500+ is not really in my budget (I don't want a doormat or a picnic rug!)
