Coin star/ coin counting machines

These machines which you throw your coin jars into in supermarkets cream off in the region of 10% of your pennies and some only give you a voucher for a specific shop

They are often located near the self check outs which will also count your change and take nothing for it, maybe a little more time ?

Well, I use the ones in ASDA and Tesco purely becuase I can't be bothered taking bags of 1p and 2p coins into the bank in my dinner half hour. I think I'm right in saying you have to use them the same day though.

You can of course choose to give all your pennies inserted to charity

have machines in their branches that will count your change without comission. A voucher is printed that you can either pay into your account or just exchange for the full cash amount. Sadly for many of you the branches are (I believe) all in London
