Credit refused due to ex husband...

Options
His name is still on MY credit report! He left here dec. 2002.
it is the ONLY bad thing on my report, which i downloaded from equifax today.
My report with experian doesnt include him anymore.
I am VERY annoyed.
Didint get a few jobs recently - now i know why, they were with banks.
Also been turned down for free banking which my own bank offers new business customers for 18 months, because of adverse reports on my file.
What do I do? Go to another bank? Would they look at a different report, experian instead of equifax?
Any ideas?

    Sarah,

a notice of disassociation should sort that problem out within a week or two.

There is a form to download on the site, or just write a letter to equifax explaining you are not financially connected. And hey presto - it is that easy to rectify.

Sarah I signed up with the Credit Expert free trial for exactly the same purpose, I got an e-mail back the other day saying that my ex would be removed from my report and they would contact all other credit enquiry agencies to share this information with them. I have also cancelled my free trial since then and had an e-mail back confirming this has been done too, very good service and all for free.

Now they wont cancel the account, and it looks like they take out the service charge at the end of the month, so I had to put a cheque in to stop being charged overdraft fees if they tried to take the fees out. I can't cancel the account over the phone (its a phone/internet account, because it hasn't been activated yet!?!? And i cant do it in the branch as its a phone and internet account. I do not want the business account with natwest now, but they will not let me close it.
My credit report is perfect apart from the appearance of the ex's name, which ive asked to be removed.

How does this free trial work and do you have to pay any money up front or is it just a case of cancelling before the first bill is due?

Basically yes, they are quite open about the date the trial ends, and as long as you cancel before then, you wont get charged. Ive done it and made full use to sort out a load of problems on my file.
