LBM 30 Months Ago, now Stalemate!

Had my LBM June 2004. Yes, 32 months ago.
OH found out I had £37,500 debt (This is also when I realised how big my debt was!). I suppose I was lucky as I had lots of valuable boys toys I could sell, which I did and generated £10,000. My debt is now £7,200. Problem is that it has not gone down for past 5 months. I have £19,211 on cc @ 0%. £12,000 of this is earning intest.
I have not paid interest for over 2 years, thanks to this site and help from the stoozing board.
Tesco r&r also helped a lot.
My spending on trivia is increasing.
How do I motivate myself to the final furlong and pay off my debt. I know I should be able to throw £700 pcm at it.

Hi omg, you've done great to get this far and also to turn up looking for a kick up the @@@@ to help you reach the finishing line.
When does your 0% deal end? Could that be your deadline?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MoneySavingExpert Forum Team0 -
Hi
I would definitely recommend joining a challenge - it's not too late to join the Olympic challenge for example. I would never have been so motivated if I hadn't been posting on a thread so much about little tiny bits and pieces that were contributing to my total (although I think I've been whittering on about rubbish recently!!). This has helped my motivation much more than anything else, including my LBM, which for me came, flicked out, came on again, was put out and then is finally glaring bright and proud and I do think that is partly to do with the Olympic Challenge!
Now if I haven't scared you off (!) do join. It might not work for you, but nothing to loose!
Well done on getting so far - you've done fantastically!

I think you've had a relapse into your pre-LBM days.omg wrote:How do I motivate myself to the final furlong and pay off my debt. I know I should be able to throw £700 pcm at it.
Then what is REALLY stopping you ???
I don't want to sound horrible but only YOU are stopping YOU throwing £700 at your debt - at the mo there is a small devil on your shoulders telling you that you deserve x, y & z while the angel whose trying to say that the money could be thrown at the debt is being drowned out.
If you don't trust yourself to voluntarily make the payment then set up a standing order so it comes out of the bank automatically.....
The other way of motivating yourself is set yourself little targaets, which in some ways similar to the various challenges on this board but is more personal - so for example I've said I will clear the card in my signature by the end of August2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.

£700 per month = debt free in time for Christmas!
What more can I say.Money won't buy you happiness
But at least you can be miserable in comfort

My problem is that after scrimping and doing without for so long, its not fun. Luckily I have been in lot better position than lot of people, having money to throw at my debt and having my health.
Cnt find the incentive to have that final push to pay it off. Perhaps in july when my 0% deals run out I will have another push?????
Best piece of dvice I can give to new starters on dfw is CUT UP YOuR CARDS0 -
i was going to suggest having a month off and having a little spend but just realised that IS what you are doing.
Dunno what to suggest, you have done fantastically well so far but you are in danger of slipping back into naughty ways. What do you plan to do with the 'debt money' when you are debt free? Perhaps you could focus on that.0 -
I will be the big 50 shortly and really need to be looking towards boosting my pension. Dont want to have to work beyond 60.
I keep looking at friends who have not had a lbm and are in HUGE debt and think that my position is not too bad.
I need to focus and change my thinking!
I do need kick up the asre!0 -
 Consider it kicked  * in a nice friendly dfw sort of way* :rotfl:
