Advice needed

I want to buy a small property in Portugal and need a £40K mortgage to top up the amount that I already have. Ideally I would like an off set mortgage as I have about £30K in a stooze pot which could go to off set some of the interest. I would like to take the mortgage against my main house which I own outright. I know I can do this because I have done it before for another house abroad, but that mortgage wasn't an off set one.
Is the virgin one account any good?, and would I get this sort of loan at my age as I am 59 and retired (although I do have a very good pension). I would only want to borrow for a maximum of 10 years, and would be happy with 7.
I would be very grateful if some one could give me some ideas or point me in the right direction.

There should be plenty of options available to you - plenty of equity against an unencumbered property.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Some but not all of the offset mortgages finish at age 65. I think that applies to one account and IF amongst othersI like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. (Milton H Erickson I think)0
