reclaiming re-mortgage arrangement fees ?

heard martin on write stuff today mention something about reclaiming arrangement fees if you remortgage....?
anyone know more about what fees you can reclaim ?
we went to bank we got mortgage with and re-fixed mortgage for another 2 yrs
and took out extra and got charged something like £400 fee does this apply just wondering what can claim back regarding mortgage ?

Its the exit fee you can reclaim if you remortgaged to a new lender within the last 5 years.
You cannot claim back any of the fees you were charged on your remortgage of the same lender as you did not pay an exit fee as you are still with them.0 -
I also heard the martin talking about this fee on the Wright Stuff.
Does anyone know the process for claiming it back. Is it just a simple case of phoning them and requesting it or is their a letter I need to send?

There are specific sticky threads at the top of this forum talking about reclaiming mortgage exit fees.
There's also an article on this subject on the editorial part of this site.
Please don't start new threads to discuss things which have already been discussed at great length either in the articles or the forums.
And for the avoidance of doubt, there is NO way you can reclaim fees for switching products with an existing lender. It's YOUR choice to switch products - either you accept the switch and the fees entailed, or you don't. Nobody's forcing you to switch.0
