I don't remember it being obligatory, surely it's something that is offered by the seller. I know when I've bought or sold used cars it's been £20

With most of the car dealers I know, you'll be lucky!SaveMeTheMoney wrote: »If I buy a new car how much of a luck penny should I be asking for?

luck penny ???? whats this all about? lol0

It's a country tradition. When a sale has taken place the seller gives the buyer some money back as a luckpenny. Many years ago it was a pre decimal penny.0

I was never aware of this tradition (being a city boy) until I had my PVC sofit and facia done by a lovely man from the country. I paid him cash and he handed me £20 back

He explained it was a luck penny
I had never heard of that before.
I wouldn't expect any major car dealer to do this TBH
although they do tend to through in mudflaps and mats if you ask nicely, and half a tank of petrol if your really lucky. Maybe try buying from a country garage rather than a city one and you might have more luck. I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
I'd rather not get a luck penny with a car, it'll probably have leaded petrol in it, and cross ply tyres, and the choke will be stuck on!0

Never heard of this before! But have never actually paid cash for a car lmao!0
