Is it ok to haggle in charity shops

Just a thought while I was out today having a look through the local charity shops I came across a few items I liked with prices of £5.99 and £5.49. With only a £10 note on me I asked the cashier if she would accept £10 for the two items, to my astonishment she said yes. I know these shops get all of these items donated and they have to make a profit but with times getting harder, every bit helps. The thing is tho is this morally ok to do ?

We have haggled in our local charity shop, most of the staff are happier to get a sale even if it means losing a pound or two off the price. However, the manager there is a real sourpuss who overprices his items and refuses to haggle, so we now have to plan our visits around his day off!!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I think it's fine.
Charity shops round here price to their market. One side of the city you can get the same stuff half the price than other side of the city.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Morally wrong, they price to get the best deal for the charity, not bargains for their customers
Luckily some people will say the item was worth more and make a donation or tell them to keep the changeYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Well thats just not true, if they priced to get the best deal both items for the OP would have come to £10 and they wouldn't have had to ask...The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Or the OP in this scenario only bought 1 item and the other item stayed on the hanger for a month or more.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I guess they're grateful for any money they can make but I do think its a bit wrong morally. I see charity shops as a good way to support and help out the charity and will often tell them to keep the change when I buy things from them, they're trying to raise money for a good cause after all.
I have been surprised to see people returning items to charity shops recently and exchanging them for something else - I would personally never do this, I have bought stuff before from charity shops that didn't fit or I changed my mind about and just given it back and thought of the money I paid as a small donation.0
