Little bit of advice pls...

Hey Guys

It's been awhile since I logged on and posted anything on here, I have a little look every now and then!

Hubby and I did our own DMP with all our creditors, some were lovely: MBNA (never thought I would hear myself saying they were lovely!) they put me on an interest free 5yr repayment scheme with no reviews! Some are utter *%&^ like NDR Money, who have a complete lack of any understanding (I know it was my own stupidity by getting into so much debt - but am trying to resolve!!)

Halifax now written to us advising that the agreement has reached it's end and will now start charging us their ridiculous £1 per day for being overdrawn, we changed banks at the time of starting and really have no means to cover the full balances of the overdrafts (£2200) - I also have a CC and Loan with them that's on an arrangement. My concern is that when we initially started the arrangements they advised that they would only go through CCCS or another DMP provider, and they only agreed to covering all our accounts on a self managed one due to an administrative error!

If they now want to go through a recognised DMP what happens to the agreement I have in place with MBNA, I know from looking on CCCS they said you have to include every debt, but that's running really quite happily and I don't want to rock the boat.

Also my salary is very much commission based, and I cannot guarantee what I will get paid on each month, if I do go through CCCS or similar - what do I put my wages down as - do I just put the basic, as that is all that's guaranteed, although I never earn just my basic and always get some commission??

Sorry for the waffly message but any advice would be helpful

Cheers peeps!

As far as I know, companies *have* to accept a DMP even when you're self managing. I'm sure there's a ruling somewhere.
I'm sure someone else will be along shortly with more help though

They dont have to accept anything - they can sell your account or do what ever they like. (but I am happy to be corrected on this :p)

However, you are correct in they cannot demand you use an "official" DMP provider and anyone can self manage one.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Thanks guys, they are fine to accept from us again, so just doing an up to date income/expenditure, still poses the question what should I do about my income - do I go basic, or do I add a little on top to cover the average of my commission??

  • Does your last post mean that Halifax have now accepted your offer...

If so can you share what the terms are regarding the overdraft.

I know Halifax can be very harsh but if you look at their policy you will see that they are always keen to accept arrangements as a short term plan, how long were you on this with Halifax?
