Cheap baked gift ideas recipes?

Hi all wondering if anyone can help me, it's my future MIL's birthday on Monday and I wanted to either bake her a cake or biscuits with a happy birthday theme maybe or her name over a few cupcakes??

Anyone got any cheap but tasty recipes? I need to go and buy the ingredients though or my other thought was to just buy a cake mix and get some jazzy cupcake cases and decorate them a little but I wanted them to be tasty and not store bought small fairy cakes! Unless I can doctor the box mix with some additional stuff??

Feel a bit overwhelmed, just want to do something nice for her as she's done a lot for us over the last year. This will just be a little extra present for her birthday.

Asda have their cupcake with frosting mixes for a £1 at the moment. Quite a few flavours and easy to make. You could buy some fancy cake cases to put them in.
