Ill Relative looking at changing surgery to springhill/priory or Bloomfield. Any thoughts on these surgeries would be greatly appreciated thanks

I find the Doctors at Bloomfield to be generally excellent; very good treatment room staff and other facilities eg Asthma clinic to be of a high standard. Only downside is there are no "open surgeries" anymore, the moaning minnies got them stopped. They were excellent for working people, now it is all appointment which can lead to delays if you wish to see a particular Dr.0

I'm registered with Priory/Springhill and have no complaints. I was previously registered with Holywood Arches so I have to realise that few surgeries can compete with such a modern facility but so far so good.
What helps me is that I can use Bangor when I'll be close to home but also have the option of Holywood should I need to go when in Belfast.0 -
As of 28th March, Bloomfield open surgeries have resumed.0

Great nurses for treatments
Doctor's seem fine and reassuring
New premises OK - not keen on waiting room - very clinical and plain
easy to walk to with adjoining pharmacy
offer a telephone consultation if unable to give you an immediate appointment
On line repeat prescription order service and collect from Gordons as well
dislikes
just two
0844 number with service selection procedure and long answer delays sometimes - all being charged by BT as 0844 does not come in any of the BT call packages
Parking - it is obvious that a significant number of the spaces adjoining the surgery and Gordons are utilised by staff leaving few for patients and customers - but I am healthy enough to walk down usually so not too much of a problemJohn0 -

Totally agree with you on the negatives. I amazingly enough managed to find a parking space when I was taking my eldest to the baby clinic a couple of years ago. Came back with him in his car seat to find some ignorant aul boy parked thisclose to the passenger side. Ignorant so-and-so just sat there watching me struggle to get the car seat in the drivers side. I tend to go for appointments in Holywood now as more often than not I can park in the surgery car park or for free on-street.
As for the 0844 number, that drives me mad! I can't remember how long it took to first off get connected to the surgery and then how many rings (30+) it took for them to answer on Wednesday past.
But apart from that I've only had issues with one locum. The telephone consultations are great (old surgery in Belfast insisted you come down even if it was just to hear you cough & splutter to get antibiotics). I was having an asthma attack but didn't realise it and they were fantastic when I phoned up. Called back quickly, told me to get to the surgery and stuck me on a nebuliser within minutes.0 -

LOL - I think he is still about and I met him in Tesco petrol site with his wife. Sitting so far back from pumps to give him choice of which one to head for and save himself at least a minute of his retirement. I signalled him to move forward and help unblock the entrance to oncoming traffic - he waved. I took bull by horns - sidestepped his car and pulled up behind one using a pump - he was not pleased and then tried to block me so he could get the first pump free. He succeeded but I was filled and away in time to hold the door open for him as I left the pay station!!John0 -
Thanks for that - any favourite drs0
