Mortgage and addresses

Hi -

I've been living on a houseboat for about four years and my wife and I are now thinking of buying a house, moving back to land. Because we haven't had a postbox over that period we've used various forwarding addresses to receive post (currently my parent's). I'm concerned that when it comes to the detail of mortgage applications and they ask for a history of addresses, that will cause a problem. I'm now on the electoral roll, have an excellent credit score, a stable job and a 50% deposit, but could the addresses issue scupper our application anyway? My wife's history with forwarding addresses is even more scattered, and her credit rating / income / employment history not great, so could I apply for a sole mortgage (even though the deposit is hers, from an inheritance)?

Sorry to post so much in one go - any advice would be much appreciated! Part of the reason of moving to land is to get back on society's books, but I'm feeling increasingly caught in a Catch 22 - haven't had an address = can't get one...

You could struggle, speak to a broker and get an AIP with someone notoriously flexible who only soft scores. Or call Halifax directly.
