Endowment claim am I too late?

A while ago I got a call from a compny telling me I was probably entitled to compo for miss sold endownments. I chose to request the compo myself but have been told that I am too late. The broker told me I had to have claimed within 6 years and that even with a 3 year extended dead line I am too late. Is this correct, is it worth me contacting a company to act on my belhalf?

you generally have to contact the company within 3yrs of when they first informed you there may be a shortfall!

you can still complain, but generally the endowment company will reject it. at this point you can go to FOS, but they also can be asked to reject your complaint by the endowment company!

i would still definately send in a letter though!

The six year dealine is the usual broker nonsense and should be ignored. The key date is 3 years after the first letter with the words 'high risk'. If you have gone past this date then fos can only look at it if their have been exceptional circumstances that have prevented you from dealing with it earlier such as illness or bereavement
