Credit Report help

I am trying to clear up my credit history, I don't have that many but they are showing as default on my credit report. Thing is, I have no paperwork regarding any of them. I have tried to contact all of the creditors, with only two replying. One of them (Vodafone) telling me they can't give me details unless I give them my old account number - the account was in 2010. One of them telling me they sold the debt to someone else, but the default is in their name (Candid Collection - Simply Be) they sold it to Wescott who has not put a default on the credit report.
The other two, Sander and Kay - Jacamo and Lowell have not replied.
What is the next step to try and get more information on the accounts? My OH was given a tax rebate of £5000 and we have said we are going to pay our debts.
