Merging different types of pension?

This is probably a really dozy question, but........

Can you put a personal (previously 'contracted out', but from this week 'contracted back in again') pension and a stakeholder pension in the same 'pot', as it were?

I have about £30k in the personal pension, and just under 10k in the stakeholder - both with same provider. Not vast sums I know. I'm not even sure now why I did this. :o

I intend to transfer them to another provider soon, but wondered if they could be pooled together.

I have asked the customer service advisor at my provider, but they were unsure and have put a 'query' through to someone else. I'm not filled with confidence, and thought that if anyone did know, it would be one of you guys. :)

Yes. There is no change on that front.

    Thanks dunstonh. :)

So........as the protected rights 'contracted out' jobby has finished now, both of my 'pots' will go into my unprotected rights stakeholder?

Which will change the date that I can take my pension i.e earlier, as not tied into the Government any longer?

I really have no clue do I. :o

no. No change on the dates on this legislation. Protected rights and non protected rights have had the same 55 to 75 age range since 2006.
