Mortgage fix ending - when to do what?

Probably too far away now but my fix ends in early November 2012. Just wonder when it is the right time to be scouring the marker for a replacement?

  • Ours came to an end this month and to be honest, the deal it reverted to was the exact one we wanted so first find out what will happen before you go scouring the market [or marker] for a replacement.

My problem (?) Is the fact that I do not need a large one, around £20K, so fees make the packages on offer expensive compared to the higher rate no fee offers currently available

Will there be a fee for doing nothing though? Check out what will happen once it ends before stressing.

  • I think you're allowed to get a mortgage in principle upto 6 months in advance, which is what I did last mortgage as it was such a decent deal, although it did take a few months of paperwork to get there.

If it's only a 20k mortgage, see what your alternatives are - maybe a terrible interest only could suit youas they often allow infinite overpayments and you probably have a decent amount of capital in your abode?
