Can be signed off effect maternity entilement?

I'm 31+5 weeks pregnant and my blood pressure is a little high the doctor reccomended giveing me a sick note so I can rest at home for a while.

What I want to know is if I'm off sick for a week or two can my maternity payments be reduced because of this?

I'm not due to go on maternity leave until next month.

    Be careful.

If you are sick with a maternity related illness after 29 weeks (check this as I'm not 100% sure) they can make you start your maternity leave early.
Here I go again on my own....

They can only force you to go on maternity leave early after 36 weeks, before this they have to accomodate you and your illness. I had loads of time off sick due to SPD and in the end I chose to take my leave early as SSP wasn't enough to live on.

OH and as for the payments, SMP is normally calculated from the 15th week before your due (IE when you're 25 weeks pregnant) so any sick leave you have now shouldn't affect it.
