builders??

Moving to Sherborne, Dorset soon.
I will need a builder for a few jobs although i have been a builder all my working life i'm getting a bit old for the heavy stuff.

As i dont know anybody in Sherborne, does anyone know of any good builders or any forums where i can find a builder locally?

I don't know your area at all but you could have a look on the my builder website to find local tradesmen. It is nationwide. Basically, customers list a job, and builders (or plumbers, roofers, whatever) registered with the site contact you to arrange a quote. There are drop down menus where you can check the tradesman's profile and feedback from customers who have had work undertaken by them. You can never have a cast iron guarantee with this kind of thing but if a builder has 100% positive feedback from 15 customers it is something to go on. The site is free for those posting jobs. The Federation of Master Builders also has a website and they will find builders registered with the FMB in your local area. As far as I'm aware, however, you can't check feedback from customers. If you are considering spending a bit of money, I would get a few quotes, check references and ask to look at completed jobs. Legitimate tradespeople shouldn't have a problem with this.
