appeal mortgage decision

hi,

i'm in the process of trying to sort a mortgage which was declined on the basis of a 'cross over of addresses'. my broker asked me to check my credit reports prior to appealing the decision.

i can't find any information about how to appeal, it's with nationwide and wondered if anyone has experience of this. i'm guessing i'm best to appeal via the broker rather than direct?

thanks

    i'm back again,

i checked my credit report and it didn't have my last addresss on it so i sorted that and a default is now showing for at utilities company then shows as settled less that 2 weeks after it was defaulted. obvs this will now sit there for the next 6 yrs and is the result of a dispute with said utilities company.

the decline of the mortgage application was on the basis of a cross over of addresses...are they just saying that and it's really to do with the default or would they just say the default? does this now mean that i've no chance of getting a mortgage for 6 years and will be stuck private renting?

    thanks

I recall posting on your other thread, although I think I may have said the address thing was a cloak from the real issue - the default you have found.

The address would not have been an issue to Nationwide, it was what had been registered there.

How much was it for and how long ago was it?

Nationwide are one of the more selective lenders, depending on value of default and other variables in the background you should still be able to achieve a mortgage

Would suggest you talk through the options with your broker..

Can you tell us a little more about the dispute. They are not supposed to put a default on your record arising from a genuine dispute.

the dispute was to do with the start date of the supply and who was supplying it, there was 2 suppliers saying they were supplying and one company was trying to charge us for the previous tenant.

it was for £215 and shows as satisfied. it was in 2010.

i thought the reason of being a cross over of address was a bit weird tbh and didn't think that this was genuine but on the report due to this default it looks like i was living at 2 properties although obvs i would be able to prove otherwise but if that's not the real issue there's no point.

I have to move out of my current property on Friday of this week and now don't know whethere the mortgage is pointless in appealing the decision or whether to just get another private rental.

If this is goingg to affect my chances of securing a mortgage long term there is not point in pursuing one in the short term.

    thanks again.
