hi, going to get a new electric rice cooker and wondered what makes people like? last one was cookworks cheapest 1 from argos
dont mind paying more if they do 2 jobs so i could get rid of steamer for example
there is ususaly just the 2 of us to eat
so could maybe go smaller than the cookworks one
mine just keeps spitting yuk all over my kitchen and is sticking more than it did but ive had it a good few yrs
thankyou

Sorry, no experience of electric rice maker but have used one of these for years in my microwave and just love it. So efficient.
Maybe I can't post link but if you look up "Riceboy" on a search engine.0 -
The best rice I ever get is when I cook it in my steamer I've tried making it in a pan I've tried a microwave rice cooker but rice done in the tefal steamer is fluffy every time0

Dont bother with electric rice cookers, they are a waste of money.
You should get a streamer, they all come with rice cooker containers and will cook rice perfectly in under 10 mins. Also the steamer can be used for all sorts of other things. Get a 2- or 3-tier one, they are quite cheap too."Real knowledge is knowing the extent of one's ignorance."0 -
thankyou i think i might give the riceboy a go! i have a steamer and have tried the rice in it and it seems to take an age and i didnt like it as much as my electric0

There is always the Ken Hom method.
Get a saucepan with a very tight fitting lid, use tin foil to help seal it if necessary.
Rinse the quantity of rice that you want to cook, and cover with cold water so its roughly a thumbnails depth above the rice.
Put it without the lid on the hob and bring to the boil, as soon as it boils turn down the heat to a minimum and cover tightly.
Leave for around 10 - 15 mins to simmer. Do not take lid off until the end of cooking.
Fluff up with a fork and serve. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I have had this rice cooker for 8 years now, gifted to me in 2003 by an Asian friend. Still going strong and looking as-good-as-new. Rice is always fluffy and soft, never sticks to the pan.
I am looking forward to this now, if I need to buy another one.Mortgage: @ Feb. 2007: £133,200; Apr. 2011: £24,373; May 2011: £175,999; Jun 2013: ~£97K; Mar. 2014 £392,212.73; Dec. 2015: £327,051.77; Mar. 2016: ~£480K; Mar. 2017 £444,445.74
