Many people on this thread are like me and don't want to see a new member sign up for no free points and wanted to let new members know that they could get some free points.
I originally posted my referral link on the referrals board once which means I am not allowed to refer again so the 25 free points I received today will go to waste and a new member will sign up and get no immediate benifit.it is clearly understandable
the forum FAQ's say no referrals on the main part of the forum including saying "pm me"

also see Cally's post 146Starting to remember why I used to avoid this MSE forum... Some people have too much time on their hands!
I too thought it was being 'friendly' offering the sign up bonuses but then I do recall MSE being a very hostile place in the past...
Browntoa is trying to explain that MSE will shut down threads if they believe they are becoming an issue by offering referrals, as MSE take steps to be 'independant' and free from Spam (referrals can sometimes be considered spam depending on how/what it is).
Although, as dragonfly stated she was just trying to be helpful (as was I, I did exactally the same thing).
I think what some people have to remember is that although they may have extensive experience in the rules of MSE due to the topics they discuss and referrals being a part of that topic, they clearly know the rules surrounding the discussio, this is not the case for every other member.
Not all people have that experience! So, by all means point it out, but please people, don't start stamping your feet because people don't know about that specific rule.
Posting the FAQ and directing people towards them, or sending a polite PM is fine, but you CANNOT expect people to know them all. Nor can you shout at people for 'threatening' the thread when they clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
All you have to do is explain the rules in a polite manner (maybe by PM).I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
i would report a grabbit with an affilliate link or somone posting their own web site so its not that I am picking on this thread
on this thread its in the interest of fairness , if all the referrals were picked up on here by one person (for example , not a dig at anyone who has posted in the thread so far) then it would surely not be fair ??
hence there is a referral part of the forum where it can be managed in a consistent mannerEx forum ambassador

Think I earnt about 15 in total lol!
I am starting to like this site, but I never seem to get any big wins nor do I get any of the referral offers that others seem to.
Still - every little helps, so I shall keep plodding on

Sorry Cally for hijacking your thread... I promise this is my last!
Personally I find Browntoa's approach (not just on this thread) rather bullish, probably not intentional but certainly when you're sat at home having some down time browsing the internet the last thing I need is a nasty public message slating what you've just innocently posted...
We all have the PM function, why not use it? After a hard day at work the tone of some of the messages upsets and yeah puts me on a downer... Take a step back and think about it... It's nice to be nice...
I use the internet to relax, chill, not to be bollocked on a public forum! I dont know all the rules because I dont spend enough time here... I have commitments, stresses so could do with MSE not adding to it!
For the record an average referral on any of these sites earns you pennies!£2014 in 2014£3,155.66 £20140 -

In addition to this thread the thing that keeps going through my head is Martins original reason for starting this site and forum was to get something back from companies who make thousands if not millions from the average consumer, I think the motto/slogan on the site was consumer revenge or something along those lines and there are people on these threads who just want to give others an oppertunity to get some free pennies/bucks/points from a company who are no doubt making money every time we click that blooming slow lucky button lol.Running total for swagbucks - £270 since Jan
Running total for superpoints -:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I found it easy once I had become a Platinum member, getting my second one not so much but I figure its minimal effort so I might as well keep it up
