Help with cleaning old pan

Hi I hope someone can help me, I have a stockpot pan 15 years old, non-stick inside and I used it for stews, great you might say, but it has started to smell awful, I keep cleaning it with washing up liquid, then pour boiling hot water in it, but still after a couple of days it starts to give off this horrid stomach turning smell I have had to put it in the garage, would it be worth trying to do something else with it or just bin it and buy a new one, I have tried bicard soda and even a brillo pad put it just skints all the time, I have looked on the web and come up with a 20 pan set for £15 at additions direct which is similar to the swan set I have, so do you think I should just put a plant in it this summer and buy a new set at £15 or try to salvage this pan 15 years old isnt bad really,

Hi, you could try ammonia. Put the pan in a thick black bag and pour a capful of ammonia into the pan. Close the bag and tie it. Leave it overnight and then next day give it a good rinse out. This should kill whatever the smell is. Remember and use gloves and a mask (if asthmatic) when using ammonia. You'll get a large bottle for about 60p from the chemist.

Try putting a couple of tablespoons of washing powder in it and some water and boil up on the stove for about 40 minutes - be careful you dont overfill as it will fizz over. This will probably do the trick.
  • The best thing for getting rid of smells is white vinegar. It actually works !

Thanks I think I might just opt for a new one, as I do have breathing problems, which is why I can smell it, the smell is getting on my chest, that's why I put it in the garage, but thanks anyway.
