I am in a similar situation, my dad passed away this time last year and it is a difficult time for me and my mum. I just have to be happy in the fact my son who is 8 months has both a loving mum and dad and grandparents too

Thanks to you all.
I felt a bit daft after pushing the 'submit' button when I starte this thread - I was feeling low and wanted to get it out of my system.
I'm glad I did now. It was comforting to read that other people feel and do the same things as me.
I like the flowers idea in the house with her photo - her grave is 200 miles away so I won't get to visit.
I do have two lovely children - sadly I found I was carrying the youngest four weeks after she died - he does seem like a gift from her as we had been hoping for a second without success for five years!!
I'll be giving him an extra cuddle on Mother's Day - he has her eyes.
Once again thanks to you all.The best things in life are free.....or at least discounted!!!0 -
it's hard for me too. I lost my dad to cancer just over 2 years ago
so it's hard when these days come around. However I didn't need "father's day" to remember my dad, he was special every day of the year but unfortunately we cant escape the publicity. 0 -
Wow - this brought me to tears, i have never known my mum (she left me when i was a baby) so mothers day day hurts alot! It hurts when i see my freinds with their mums and the way they chat and joke about. Obviously im overjoyed for them but it does bring an empty part of me to the surface.
Look back and enjoy remembering the good times - there are a few of us who dont even have this to look back at! Do as many have said and buy mums favourite flowers or something along those lines and take a quiet moment to 'chat' with her! It will probably make you cry but it should make you feel close to her! Remember, as long as you let her, she will still live in you!
Big hugs to all of you!!!!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
Hi i just wanted to say how sad your post made me feel. I really feel for you and i still have both my parents here and cannot imagine what my life would be without them. I hope that some people read this who dont have good realtionships with their parents and realise that life really is too short, i mean its hard sometimes and sometimes parents can do things which dont make sense to us and of course we have our ups and downs but definately more ups!. Dont be too proud and let the anger go as times with family are so precious, you only ever have 1 mum and 1 dad right?. I wish i had done more for my parents and i think i do do things for them. I think parents are heros every single day, every little thing they do from waking up in the morning to going to bed at night. Bless them all. I am 30 mum is 53 Dad is 54 and i booked them a holiday to portugal 2 weeks ago and its posts like this that make me happy that i want to do things like this for them.
I really hope that you will think of all the great times you had together, all those special moments which you shared together.
Really big hug to you.

I am actually crying as I type this - such a sad thread. Hugs to all of you who have posted (I know it won't really help, but I really don't know what else to say).
I am so lucky. Like Angel777 I still have my parents - I am in my 50's and dad is 81 and mum 78 - both pretty healthy. I really do thank my lucky stars almost every day that they are both still here. I cannot even begin to imagine them not being around and just thinking that makes me cry.
I don't really know what else to say except that, like Angel says, you can remember the good times and they are still with you in spirit. I believe one day you will be reunited. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
